Our partnership with Drinkaware enables us to train up a team of staffers who are attuned and sensitive to the more vulnerable customers within our client’s venues.
Drinkaware is an independent charity working to reduce alcohol misuse and harm in the UK – to help people make better choices about drinking.
They work closely with bars, clubs and venues around the UK, giving attention to the sale of responsible alcohol, and enabling venues to notice and prevent alcohol-related issues.
Training our staff
One of our most frequently utilised services is our upselling-drink service. As a result, we want to ensure that we uphold our values by training staff at Phoenix to be able to identify alcohol related vulnerability.
Phoenix’s regular shot-waitresses are undertaking a training course, which enables dedicated staff working in venues to promote a positive social atmosphere and to support the welfare of those on a night out.
The course is focused on equipping staff with the ability to take active steps to help prevent customers from coming to harm relating to alcohol vulnerability and is endorsed by British Institute of Innkeeping, and is advised by the Home Office.
Phoenix are also partnering with our clients to also provide a Drinkaware Crew; where trained staff can help those that are in need of support when on a night out.
The Phoenix Drinkaware Crew will work in pairs to help those who may be vulnerable as a result of drinking too much alcohol. This can include reuniting lost customers with friends, helping people into taxis, or simply providing a shoulder to cry on.
The Drinkaware Crew was recommended as best practice in the Government’s 2016 Modern Crime Prevention Strategy.
